I'm an investor in Toledo, Ohio with a day job. When the recession hit in 2009 I spent my unemployment time renovating foreclosures and resumed work in environmental compliance when the automotive market recovered.
I built my real estate as a business and backfilled myself starting with the snaking of toilets on Friday nights and now have a team renovating and collecting rent for me. I stay in control of the big decisions and am always looking for sustainable growth opportunies.
Through my own investment and select partnerships I own and manage 35 units in North Toledo. Always interested in meeting investors and managers, member of Toledo REIA (Real Estate Investor's Association).
2009 and counting, got into the market when the public ran screaming from it! I focus on a buy, fix, and manage strategy, love the complexities of this business.
Always evolving, right now there are a lot of cheap properties in Toledo that cash flow. I see owning a portfolio of properties forever, there is too much advantage not to.
Networking with other investors, fine-tuning property management for the best return and tenant retention, and seeking the return of the real estate market which will yet again change the game. Here's to learning!
