I'm a full time contractor and a part time Re investor. I focus on multi-unit properties in the Chicago-land area. My strategy is to buy and hold.
I bought my first multi-unit when I was 25 and I had no experience whatsoever in property management. What i did have was a working knowledge of general carpentry, electrical and plumbing. The property was a total re-hab and the price reflected that. Although I ended up spending more money and doing more work than I bargained for I earned an education out of that deal which I can't but a price on.
I currently own 7 multi-unit buildings and one commercial property. My first properties were complete rehabs.
My goal is to match my net rental income with my current 9-5ish income by 2011.
Multi-famiily properties consisting of greater than 4 units but will consider less units for the right price.
