General Contractor

In my own words...
i've recently started an LA networking forum, if you've gotten a colleague request please join.
Designer / Builder (Project Manager). Soon-to-be developer.
Wanted to design, then realized that I needed to be signing the checks if I wanted to be making the decisions, so I taught myself to design, then to build, and am now studying finance (along with successful people, administration, etc.).
I've read the L.A. Times "Real Estate" section weekly for years now (until it recently changed), "L.A. Land" regularly, and my passion is for developing on a multi-unit scale (if a "Planner" actually got to make a difference I'd be one), but I'm a pretty good designer on individual units. I'm well versed in residential construction, permitting, plan-checking, zoning, public works, variances, etc. Some college education regarding planning issues. Interested in entitlement process, international projects (Latin America). I'm working on becoming bilingual.
Goals are to build a retirement and have some exciting projects to get involved in.
I'm very fiscally conservative, have a strong work ethic, and believe the old rules still apply. Also, I take pride in practicing professionalism to the best of my abilities. My role models are good business men. I follow macro-economic issues closely, listen to NPR religiously (along with KCRW), and tend to be annoyingly diplomatic in areas of opinion or argument.
If you've gotten to the end of this and you live in los angeles please join our LA networking forum.
