I started investing in RE in mid '07 when I thought we had bottomed out - Haha the worm turns slowly! Fortunately I started off slow (only 1 deal in the first year) and found BP quickly. Since then I have been rehabbing SFRs and reselling or keeping as rentals. I still work a day job as a mechanical design engineer and am continuing to look for additional streams of income.
I'm married with a 5 year old, 3 year old, and a 1 year old.
I have purchased 2 building lots way back in the 90s and then nothing till '07 then 2 REOs, 2 HUD, 2 estate, and 1 short sale. I have never paid a penny to a guru but have gained all my knowledge from BP and from doing it. I hate to lose money so I learn my lessons pretty quickly.
Source of primary income in 2 years (2013). Create a work environment that is more condusive to family life. I don't mind working a lot just not always in a rigid 9-5 schedule.
Single Family homes in strong stable areas to flip or keep as rentals. Particularly interested in homes that have room to build on/up or locations that are prime for infill building.
