Green Roofs for Commercial Buildings in Oklahoma

There are basically 3 easy ways that commercial buildings can be made to be more party and eco friendly. While different home remodeling Oklahoma City contractors may have different images in their minds of a green roof, most modern green roofs are quite advanced. They are designed to be more functional, especially when used for commercial purposes, more environmentally friendly and also quite functional. The three different ways to come up with an eco friendly roof for commercial buildings are enumerated below.

1. The first step is to reduce runoff from buildings.

Basically, large cities experience storm water runoffs during storms and heavy rains. These water runoffs are basically as a result of a concrete and cement city that cannot absorb the water. It is much better if a modern roof on a commercial building was designed with plants, such as grass, growing on top. This way, most of the water would be absorbed by the crops planted on the roof and the soil and as a result, there would be much less runoff on the cities. This is also a great idea for green roofs for commercial buildings. This is great in many ways as it also helps prevent soil erosion in places where the run off would finally get to. And since commercial building are normally located in areas with few green spaces, a couple more green areas would have a definite and positive effect to the general area.

2. The creation of attractive outdoor areas for socializing

A green roof on a commercial building can help with the creation of prime space that can be used for gatherings. These green spaces can be designed complete with lawns, flowers and other greenery and then parties and non-official functions can be held here ever so often. The working individuals employed at the commercial center will enjoy sitting and spending time at the commercial space and they will definitely enjoy the ambiance and the beautiful fresh air when they step outside onto the green spaces designed within a commercial property. There are examples of these lush parks within buildings such as the one at the Pepsi Company office buildings in the US City of Chicago. More focus can be placed on the roof, especially if the roof has an amazing and spectacular view of the surrounding areas. The roof can thus be used to generate some income while also being a green entity, helping preserve the ecosystem.

3. The addition of natural plants in the general area

It is a fact that major cities and other urban areas such as towns and suburbs have developed in areas that originally were full of natural flora and fauna. The major purpose of the green roofs for commercial buildings is to try and imitate the original flora in the area before the establishment of the city or the building. It is described by many environmentalists and scientists as a great way to preserve the environment and also to create a habitat for some fauna. It is definitely a great solutions to a habitat that needs a green solution.

Installing a green roof on a business building is a move in the right direction and is also very important. There are different styles and designs that can be used in the installation and adaptation of the green pasture within a commercial building.
