The Rise of an Empire

"Dedication is daily motivation." - Maybe I made this one up.

I had an epiphany today, well two epiphanies to be honest. The first is that I'm a procrastinator, the second, is that if I want to be successful, I need to quit procrastinating. Maybe those are the same epiphany, but I think of them separately. I now know the problem and the solution. But how do I execute the solution?

I work the daily grind: gym, agency, bartend, sleep (sometimes), repeat. I realize I need to quit procrastinating, I need to stop making excuses, and I need to get in the game. Sure, I work 5 days a week as a bartender working from 5p to 2a and getting little sleep. But too often I let my lack of sleep get in the way of my success. Being 23 and a total Momma's boy (and proud of it), I asked her how she managed to wake up and get moving every day. her reply was simple, and perfect, "I know I need to, and so I do. No Excuses."

So last night I roll into the driveway shortly after 3 in the morn, change, and crawl into bed. I'm not the best at falling asleep, but man am I good at staying asleep. I rolled around and eventually faded into oblivion. What seemed like moments later I heard my alarm yelling at me to start the day. I got out of bed, walked across my room, turned off the alarm, set a new alarm, and looked back at my bed. It was at this moment that I heard my mother's voice in my head, "No excuses." I looked at my bed, pointed with an angry finger and yelled, "NO!" so loud that I probably woke up my roommates.

By 8a I was in the gym and by 930a I was in the office. As an agent it is really easy to sleep in if you do not have any work to be done the next day. But you have to remind yourself, that if you don't have work, find work. Generate leads. Cold call. Call expired listings. Call FSBOs. Send e-mails. Mail flyers. Drive by houses. Meet people. Hold an open house for another agent. market ourself on bigger pockets.

There is a limitless possibility of lead generation tools, the key is to use them!! And don't delay. Don't be scared of that first lead coming in. It starts today and continues every day. It takes dedication. Eventually I'll be a full time agent. I'll have enough leads that I won't need to tend bars every night. But that won't happen if I don't get up, because I have to. No excuses.

Thanks Mom.
