Working for Yourself - Part#1

Disclaimer

I am not an English Professor or writer, and I don't claim or want to be, so I am sure there are some grammatical errors. If you are looking for legal advice, go see an attorney.

If you are looking for tax advice, go see a Certified Public Account, if you need counseling, see a physiologist, I AM NEITHER. Seek out professionals in these areas.

Hello & Welcome! (Written 07/2014)

My name is Mr. Sutton; I’m a 44-yr old Independent Real Estate Transaction Engineer / Solutions Specialist. I’ve officially been an Entrepreneur for the last 2-yrs helping home owners sell unwanted or distressed property. With all of the Trials and tribulations that I’ve experienced personally, as well as professionally (working for myself) I thought it might be helpful to share my experiences with any new comers.

How Strong or Tough are you?

Normal 1440684461 Believe

One of the things that I’ve learned since starting this business of working for myself is that you MUST keep a strong mental and emotional state of mind!

Some of you are saying, “Ok” tell me something I don’t know! Well this entry is not for you then. It’s for the people who are starting out that think this is going to be a breeze; well, I’m here to tell you it’s not! (in my Nate Dogg Voice, RIP) “Hold-Up”, let me explain...

If you’re not mentally tough or even if you think you are… you WILL be put to the test, Not only in this business, but in any business, as well as your personal life. Having a, or Finding your Work/Life balance is essential. I should know: I’ve been working on bettering this balance slowly but surely. We get so focused on our goals and the end results that we forget to appreciate the things we do have.

Finding a way to have THICK Skin (if you don’t already), deal with REJECTION and pushing through to the other side of failure to SUCCESS, (small ones are better than big ones) while dealing with Family (wife/husband, children, past mistakes, current and past decisions, doubters/haters, non-believers)… should I go on?

I think you get the point!

You Must Mentally prepare yourself to be where you are going to be.

Prime example or movie reference: “ANY GIVEN SUNDAY” (Al Pacino & Jamie Fox) Remember when the Coach (A. Pacino) said to the QB (J. Fox) “See it before you do it”, See it, then DO it”? Well, that’s what you & I must do, before you even take the first step. “Believe in yourself”, if you don’t, who will?

Take time DAILY to see yourself were you WILL BE… (Like in the movie THE WATER BOY) “You Can Do-It”

See It, Believe It, Do It, Be It!

  1. Thank you very much from the deep down warm & fuzzy piece of me!

Personally this message has honestly hit me at a moment of true self-doubt.

I truly needed to be reminded of what has brought me to where I am; but also to be reminded of where it is that I "am" heading.

I needed the pep talk and proper perspective that was given.

I now once again know that it is time for me to put my "big boy pants" back on; kick some rocks, get back up on that horse, and keep on trucking. This industry is a numbers game after all.

I am supposed to be a real estate investor!

I will be a tremendous real estate investor!

It is; only a matter of when it happens and not if it happens that I will one day "soon" find myself having reached that goal!

In closing once again I thank you for sharing and just to let you know at least with me; the message was needed and well received.

I sincerely hope that everyone in this community is having a great day; and as always Good Luck in all your real estate endeavors!

    Dan Dwyer, Wilson Property Solutions
