Attending my first Real Estate Club

I'm new to real estate investing. I'm interested in wholesaling and want to attend my first REIC meeting. Can anyone recommend
a good REIC near Downey, CA. (L.A. Region)?

I just know the basics of wholesaling. Should I gain more knowledge before attempting to attend a REIC? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I removed your duplicate post of this message. You can search our Real Estate Club directory or go to the groups and see if there are any appropriate groups there.

As for waiting to attend a real estate club (usually termed REIA), don't. Go, network, and learn . . . that's what they are for.

As for wholesaling, jump on the wholesaling forums and read. Focus on posts from Ryan Webber . . . he's an All Star!

I concur! Don't wait. Being involved in my local REIA was definitely what jump started my success! My annual membership was the best first "investment" I could have made in my investing business!!

Thank you for your post. You and Joshua have definitely motivated
me to attend my first REIA. I've been reading articles and a few books
but for some reason I still don't know were to begin. I'm hoping that
by attending a REIA it'll jump start my success as it did for you.

Do you have any suggestions when attending the REIA. Should I get
some business cards made prior to attending? Once again thank you
for you post.

I just missed the REIA meeting in my area on Tues but I plan to go to the next meeting but it isn't until the end of next month. My question is what to expect or how to approach the veterans there? I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and ask all the wrong questions. lol

There is no question that's a dumb or wrong.I'm still asking questions and meeting people trying to get a grasp on things.

I attended for awhile before joining however,once I did I was able to attend classes that are set up specifically fro the beginning investor.

Another group I would look into is called FIBI (for investors by investors). They have many chapters. I regularly attend there meetings and there is no one selling crap. Just networking and maybe a presentation of what someone is actually investing in. They charge $10 to cover the cost of the meeting room and nothing else. Actually a guy I met at a meeting recommended me to join biggerpockets!

Randy,
I would not worry, I would just go. Everyone starts investing somewhere. My only advice is not to get bought up in the hype from any of the members of REIA. A lot of them will try flipping you stuff, but just go and take notes. You can learn a lot about people and the market just by showing up and listening for a few times.
