Resources for locating seized properties?

There are tons of paid resources out there that claim to give you the best listings for foreclosed and seized properties, but the majority are scams as far as I can tell.  So does anyone recommend any good resources?  And how do those people collect their information?  Isn't there a way I can do that myself without it costing me?

First check your local resources like your county recorders office. Then contact an agent for the MLS resources or you can contact a company that assigns foreclosures to the agents like Reoprep.com or equator.com, or reoworld.com

Check the recorders office for the county(s) you're interested.  Some provide data easily, some have a charge, some don't provide it online.  You can go to the courthouse and pick up the filings.  Many areas have a local service that serves just a few counties and provides the data right after its filed.  Speaking with folks at a REIA is a good way to find out.

Direct Links to banks REO holdings, HUD, VA, Fannie, Freddie and all the fed govt agencies that find themselves in possession of real estate.

Oh... and I do know about the NHMS listings already.  Just looking for more resources then that.
