Site Question - why is this site so slow?

This site is very slow for me. Is there any reason for this?

Here's what I am sporting for a connection:

Hey Josh:

Since I've been a member this site seems to load 'slowly' for me, too.  Wish I was more of a computer expert to say why.

FWIW, I timed how long it takes me to load the pages I frequent most:

10 seconds to load biggerpockets.com/dashboard.

14 seconds to load 'Posts since last visit'.

14 seconds to load page 2 of 'Posts since last visit'.

14 seconds to load page 3 of 'Posts since last visit'.

5 seconds to load a topic.

5 seconds to load page 2 of that same topic.

7 seconds to return to page 1 of that same topic.

10 seconds to return back to 'Posts since last visit'.

I always figured it was massive traffic but If you have any suggestions for speeding up my end I'd appreciate it.

That's helpful information.  That said, load times for me are nowhere close to that and our speeds are very close.  Regardless, if two of you are having this problem, I'm sure there are many more who are also unhappy about the speed.

We'll see what we can do about it.

Hey Nick --

I run a suddenlink cable internet connection.

According to Speakeasy my download speed from NC to Los Angeles is 8112 kbps.

While 10 seconds to load a page may drive you crazy, I still remember the old 300 baud modems!!!  Ha ha I thought I was in heaven upgrading to 2400 baud!

Mark, what type of connection do you run?

I'm by no means internet savvy whatsoever either, however I do know that I have qwest.com as my internet server and run a 20mbps fiber optic connection.

pages load instantly with virtually no lag at all.

10second to load a page would drive me crazy!!!

Slow: It takes considerably longer to load this site than other sites with similar content.

So slow is relative. Do you want me to get a timer?

You do not notice that this site loads much slower than other sites with similar content?

Nice "I'm not complaining" comment. If you don't like suggestions/questions, don't have an area for them.

The fact is this site has some terrific content/moderation its just difficult to locate the content and each thread takes a long time to load.

We want your feedback.  Who is complaining?  You had two members who said the site loads fine, and a moderator and admin ask you for more specifics.

If I again ask for more info, I hope you don't think we're "complaining" about your question. We just need more info.

What part of the site is loading slowly for you?  This is a MASSIVE website with dozens and dozens of moving parts.  Saying that the site is slow isn't helpful unless you can tell me what is slow for you.  My connection is barely faster than yours and the site loads just as quickly as most other comparable sites, so I can't see the issue without your help.

Is it the forums?  Individual topic pages? The Bulletins? Blogs?

Your comments could potentially be very helpful to everyone if you could narrow it down for us so we can investigate further.
