Hi JD,

Could you guys add a sort by date feature to your forum search? or at least display the newest results first?

I just searched on "Atlanta" and the first page of results were 3+ years old. If the results were sorted newest first, that would be helpful.

Yes, I have to use advanced search because the basic search function is not user friendly. You have to page through all the posts to get to the recent posts. I would expect that the results would be sorted by most recent first.

Just a suggestion to improve the forum.

I understand the difference between relevance and most recent.

Google has an advanced search feature that allows you to filter by date. Google offers a custom search feature that can be added to BiggerPockets - http://www.google.com/cse

When I do a basic search for the keyword "Atlanta", I get back 67 pages with posts going back 4+ years. I clicked through the first couple of pages and the posts were all 3-4 years old, which I wouldn't consider relevant.

I'm typically not interested in anything older than a couple of months. This is where a sort by date feature would be nice.

I went to the advanced search and searched again for the keyword "Atlanta". I clicked search option "Time Frame" and selected 12 months. The search returned 0 results. So I think there may be a bug here.

I was able to do and advanced search for the keyword "Atlanta" and sort the results by post time, descending. This was the only way I could view recent posts with the keyword "Atlanta"

I would also agree that it would be great to customize the search by date. I too have found that the older dates seem to pop up first and in my humble opinion, in most cases, the more recent ones are the more relevant ones.
