My personal and professional opinion would be to start with a Google search, as was mentioned by Scott, and then do a search in your local craigslist under "financial" and "real estate" services. I would also recommend getting on the REIA website, to find your local chapter, and attend one of their monthly meetings. Doing those things will assuredly yield some favorable results. I am a member of both local reia's in Memphis. There are some hm lenders at each but either you need 10-15% down or need a good reputation, otherwise forget it.

Are you looking to borrow the money yourself or for your clients?

The individual borrowing the money will also need to have a plan put together as to what they are going to do with this money, along with a exit strategy. Most hard money lenders are going to set up their loans on 90 day notes. With that in mind, getting pre-approved through a long term lender before you go to a hard money lender is very important.
