I was wondering if other people are using these in their rentals (not just on sliding glass doors, but on regular windows)? I've grown to hate the horizontal mini-blinds--and the vertical ones seem so much easier if you need to replace a broken slat.

yall are both right..that's why i don't supply blinds..my tenants can supply blinds or curtains if they want...bc if i supply them, they're just gonna trash em.....

josh, too funny..my parents had some of these when i was a kid..now when i see them, i just think they look very outdated, but when i was a kid, i thought it was the coolest thing!

I agree they look like crap. You always want to supply mini blind so your rental does not look like crap and looks uniform from the outside. Nothing is worse than the sheet in the window look. If you dont want to spend a lot of money get the ones from HD that mount in the plastic brackets outside the stops. I go with the bali today brand that they cut to size for you. I think they average around $20/unit but look very nice.

My family owns a blind company. Through high school and college I installed thousands of blinds. You wouldn't believe the amount of verticals we throw away. They look tacky, break easily, and I personally hate them. There are other options for sliding doors, but they are too expensive for rentals. Just leave the doors open.

2" white faux wood blinds can often be cheaper than the aluminum mini blinds. The vinyl mini blinds just break too easily.

My advice is to do 2" faux woods on all windows with NO tilt wands. Use string tilters. Often the same price, but last longer.

A sheet if you're lucky! We don't offer our rentals with bare windows because we don't want to see aluminum foil or newspaper taped over them. :shake:

For windows, we put in simple drapes/curtains that go well with the paint scheme. I can do all the windows for $100-200 including repairing some rods. All comes from the deposit. Most times the curtains are left behind and need a simple run through the wash. I seem to rent units much faster with this simple staging.

None of my rentals have sliding doors, not sure what I would do there.

Thanks for info Josh. What do you suggest for patio doors? For regular windows we've been using aluminum horizontal blinds since the beginning and they just get trashed so easily. We just started switching to 2" faux wood and so far so good.
