Hello from Surburban Chicago

I have been interested in real estate my whole life, started reading about it the past few years and I have been thinking about getting more serious over the past couple of months.

For me, wholesaling sounds like a great way for me to get started part time and make some cash. I would eventually like to go full time with it. I am also interested in lease/purchases and multi-units.

So far I have found these forums and entire site to be a wealth of information and I'm grateful to everyone that contributes - THANK YOU!

Welcome Ryan. I have a friend who is still able to do wholesaling in Aurora. It's not the same numbers and he's only getting a couple thousand at a time but it's still all money. I do recommend that you find a specialty and a core group of investors who buy that specialty and continually feed that type of deal to your group. Make it repeatable. Good luck with it.

GREAT NAME! Something about the name inspires greatness!

You mention that " eventually" you would like to be full time in this arena, what are you doing now full time?

What suburb are ya in out west? I will be having lunch in Lisle this Thursday with a bunch of other investors so figured I would ask!

I'm currently a branch manager at a bank...I want some stars to align (aka I'm getting married later this year), etc before I officially take the leap as a real estate investor but I still want to get as much out of it all as I can. I know a popular phrase thrown around here is " Take Action" and I agree.

I live in Woodridge, not too far from Lisle at all.

And for my sake, hopefully the name Ryan inspires a lot of greatness in my investing career.

He is just saying that because his name is Ryan also, Wholesaling is a great way to start bringing in cash. I started out rehabbing and even now I still wholesale 4 years later and as Tim said its all money so why not get as much as you can. I am in the Chicago area and I look for properties almost anywhere so if you ever wanna talk shop or you happen to stumble across a good property be sure to let me know.
