Firefox, Opera, Maxthon and Safari adhere to web 2.0 design standards and have many Web 2.0 functions.
There are positives and negatives, depending on your needs.
Firefox, Safari Maxthon, and Opera have less risk to virus and other issues that plauge Microsoft products. The Browsers allow application specialist to create really exciting add ons to these Browsers.
However, you might notice that some websites might have a " problem" when you view them in anything other than Explorer.
For example: My local MLS/BLC and web based client management system " Top Producer" do not work in anything but Explorer????
This is simply becasue a lot of web designers have been too lazy to upgrade and adhere to the web standard. Internet Explorer is the " generic" browser by default, since so many people use it. So applications that have not been upgraded by companies suffer as a result.
Explorer is set to release version IE8 sometime next year, but I am sure it will have plenty of bugs on the first release.
Firfox has performed the best for us as an everyday browser. No major issues to report and the performance has been amazing. I even use it on my Mac computers.
We have a web design company in house, and we deal with the issue of Explorer every day, so it is a little bit of a sore subject for me. LOL
From my experience, folks should use Firefox as a browser and Thunderbird as the mail client to replace Outlook.
I have only tried Firefox other than Explorer and I had trouble with some sites working properly with Firefox. It's a shame because Firefox offered neat add ons.
....and one of those neat add ons is an Internet Explorer rendering engine, that allows you to view picky sites within Firefox!

I love Opera (not the music).
