Generating Passive Income

How can a college student such as myself generate some passive income (not through rentals) so i can build up enough capital to make my first down payment? I am currently working a part time job and my time is limited so i wanted to find some ways to make some passive income so i can build up my capital even faster. i tried to make a site to generate some cash flow through affiliate program but that failed miserably. I was wondering if anyone else, in their experience, know of any other good ways.

I am also thinking about birddogging, in todays economy, do you think it's a good idea?
