Is anyone planning on purchasing the Blackberry Storm? I passed on the iPhone, but I am considering this.

The BB Storm will be the perfect tool for business! I am VERY excited about this release!
I have the 8830 World Edition, and it is my third BB model since I made the switch from the Palms.
My wife has the 3G Iphone, and while I do not have anything really negative to say about it, it does come off as more of a toy than a solid business tool.
I think it comes out Saturday with Verizon right?
The iPhone is the greatest business tool I've ever had (aside from my handy dandy macbook). That said, it is also an AWESOME toy!

The Storm comes out on Friday, 11/21.
What I didn't like about the iPhone is the issue of replacing the battery. You have to send the phone in to have it replaced. I believe he Storm allows for simple replacement. My wireless contract is up at the end of this month, so I can see if there any issues with the Storm before switching.
The big advantage I see for the Iphone is WiFi....I love the Safari Browser when I am sitting at a HotSpot!
The other advantage is that the Iphone is in its 2nd generation.....
For the BB, it will be the strong corporate foundation and the integration of Dataviz to view Word/Excel/PP docs.
Not sure about the "click" feature yet, since I have not seen it, but it sounds good.
We made the switch over to Macbooks when they introduced the Intel chips, and I have not looked back! I doubt that I will EVER buy another PC, especially when we can run XP/Vista on a virtual computer via Fusion if need be.
So, I am not negative on the Iphone at all, it is an amazing phone, I am just addicted to my BB!!!!!
since getting a pearl, which is admittedly at the low-end of the scale, i don't know how i survived before...then again, same goes for cell phones

What is the differences between the new BB and the iphone? I need a new phone but with my mac world around me and there only being one phone that is fully mac compatible it is kind of an easy choice...
Having nothing constructive to add to this discussion, I thought you might enjoy this little tale--- :D
A couple of weeks ago, I'm over at a friends house out in the boonies. We're sitting around the fire in the driveway drinking coffee when I decide to regale the crowd with a story about our last Ikea trip. During this long-winded tale, I (unfortunately) use the phrase babies-with-blackberries.
After much explaining that these were not *actual* toddlers with *actual* berries, someone wants to know what these Blackberries are.... at which point I discover that I don't actually know. There follows another story about little boxes with buttons operated via thumb-power used for... uhm... stuff and junk (picture much hand waving and imaginary thumb-texting.)
As we're leaving, dear friend thanks me for explaining about Raspberries as now, she won't seem so uninformed when talking to her city relatives
I've read several rather negative reviews of the Storm. Two main complaints are the general incompleteness (bugs, missing features, seems like it may have been pushed out a little too quick), and the click screen. It was described as exhausting to type on because of the clickness.
I use both a mac (work) and PC (home), and honestly, don't see the huge difference. They're different, but in small ways. I do like the mac marginally better, but if it was my money, I doubt I'd spring for one.
Full disclosure. I did get an iPhone about a month ago and I really like it. Needs cut and paste, and a better calendar synch mechanism (though that's partly a result of our internal calendar mechanism), but its an amazing device.
I have heard bad things about it so I'm taking a wait and see approach.
I am a blackberry user, and let me tell you, I was a skeptic. I got to try the storm out a week or so ago. It looked pretty nice to me. Of course there have been the normal bugs that come with a first generation device. I believe a good amount of those will be fixed by a few software patches.
I have a strong feeling this phone will be in my pocket once they get a few of the kinks worked out.
I think that I will be taking the iphone plunge soon. This thread was helpful. Does anyone have further input?
thanks.
I was debating between the Iphone or a Blackberry (Curve). I thought about the Storm, too. I ended up with the Blackberry (Curve). So far I am happy with the choice, and my monthly payment is lower than my last 2 year contract.
I just got the BlackBerry Curve too and couldn't be happier. IMO, the Storm had a lot more features than I'd ever use. For that reason alone, I went conservative and settled for the Curve. I was also a little concerned about the bugs other people have found with the Storm.
I have an older Blackberry... uh 8703. I've had it about 2 years. I love it! I was thinking about the storm too when it was released. I think I'll wait until the 2nd gen comes around before I make that purchase. I haven't seen the curve.. I'll have to look into that one too.
So I am about to switch and am an apple fan boy so you would think there would be no competition here.
But for those who have the I phone if I buy it do I have to get the apple web service which is $30 a month and then text messages which is another $20. Can you not get around this? They have an option for any other internet capable phones that $25 web&text unlimited plan. I feel this is incredibly stupid if true that you basically paying $25 for visual voicemail which I don't even care about... It just seems weird and I have found no way around that...
Matt,
I'm an iphone user. You can get different levels of texting. I think $20 is probably for unlimited. The $30 is the apple service fee...I would go in and bargain a deal with your local dealer person.
My phone bill is a little pricey, but the iphone is ridiculous. It is the first "tech" thing that I have bought where everything made sense right out of the box.
I'm with David. The iPhone is one of the best tools I've ever owned (besides the good old MacBook)!

I know it is an awesome gadget let alone business tool. I know I would get great use and Im sure it would help with the REI business I will FINALLY be starting next year. I am a college kid and will need the unlimited texts. It's crazy how much I text... kind of sad probably.
As for it making sense out of the box, that is just how Mac is. I have convinced MANY MANY people to get mac stuff and I can honestly say I have NEVER heard someone they will do anything different. Everything is just more simple and more efficient. Unless you are restricted to pc for business I simply don't understand why you wouldn't use Mac. I can tell Josh is with me :D
