obama received an award as man of the year from the newspapers guild over the weekend. No press was evidently allowed to attend(so much for transparency). Now today, a bill was introduced to allow the failing entities(newspapers and possibly tv stations) to go as "non profit organizations) to avoid taxes and receive a few other benefits. They would not be "allowed" to endorse a candidate, but we'd be having Letterman and editorials on what a wonderful dress michelle wore and bowling scores from barack hussein obama , while learning how many houses Romney or Mccain owned. These entities can't compete on their own, so now they get technically a "bailout" of a different sort. This just keeps getting worse. So much for the attempt on the "fairness doctrine" for competing in the real world. dems are figuring out all the beneficial changes for them and rubber stamping them with no way to stop them while a smoke screen like bonuses to AIG clouds the vision of normal folks.
Only solution, imo is a revolution grass roots style, and pass an amendment to limit terms to 2 for all elected officials, just like the pres. I really worry for my country and grand kids.

Can I ask what in God's green earth were the newspapers guild smoking when they award that bastard man of the year :roll:

Your "Good Ol Boy" got us in this financial
mess, remember?? As for Sen. McCain, ask yourself this question, why do he NEVER attends his family reunions down
in Mississippi???????

"Your "Good Ol Boy" "..."why do he NEVER" ...
"down in Mississippi???????"

Sounds like you are playing the race card Earl.

If you think Pres. Bush had the brains or capacity to do this on his own, and the banking institutions are innocent...Than you must be an Obama fan.

uh oh.............................we've got a dem stepping to the plate.

how come I get the feeling this is going to turned into a race issue when 'Good Ol Boy' is mentioned in the same post as Mississippi? :roll:

Mr_Investor, c'mon you know why he got the award....................not really a coincidence that the same entities are now going to be allowed to go as Non-profits :roll:

where is the little smiley that sits back and eats popcorn, b/c thats what I'll be doing as this topic is sure to heat up quickly.

edit............John beat me to the punch with the race card, oh well it's still going to be interesting to watch this

Pass the pop corn Nick...I saw the same thing coming

Real Estate Investor · Tampa, Florida

Well I guess I'm in. The 'Good Ol Boy' that got us in this mess was Clinton. The originator of de-regulating the financial instititions and passing legislation to let people who could not afford mortgages have them. While I am not a huge Bush fan, neither am I a McCain fan (a Socialist is a Socialist is a Globalist is a Communist) give credit where credit is due. But I too, am outraged that a man (and I use that term loosely) who just mortgaged the entire country to Communist China would get anything but court martialled.

Forget the popcorn. Pass me a firearm.

Real Estate Investor · sioux falls, South Dakota

Earl- I'm sorry. Sometimes I don't attend my family reunions either. That doesn't cause my country to go down hill. Chhanges like these do. No checks and balances is never good in anything. That is what we have now. A rubber stamp congress with the puppetmasters pelosi and rahm shaking the strings. Lets get rid of the teleprompters and see if barack can even speak off the cuff...

Real Estate Investor · Mission Viejo, Cape Coral, California

Welcome to the net work Karen. Maybe on your fourth post, you will not hold anything back. lol Did the U.S. ever find Obama's real birth Cert?? Last I heard he was not born in Hawaii and could not produce a real birth cert.

Real Estate Investor · Tampa, Florida

Thanks John. I've never been much for holding back. I know they're trying, with the Fairness Doctrine, to get rid of our free speech, but the last I heard I think we still have it.

I read that he had produced a birth certificate.

I'm really sick of hearing about the race issue. How do those people account for those blacks that don't want their country turned over to a Socialist? Obama is just the continuation of what this country has seen since Reagan left office (and Reagan was a break from the norm) which is more big government and fewer rights for the individuals in this country. You would think after fighting for their rights for so long that the black population of all groups was have shunned such an extremist. But it was the whites that voted for race, right?

It is supposed to reach 93 here in S. Texas. The weather is the only positive I can think of to comment on in this thread. The problem is the current generation of young adults have seen NOTHING but abundance of easy money and credit and life. Some of us older folks know better, but we're the minority and majority are just mush head video game players, who don't understand how the country is getting away from the founding principles. Too many to list and most on here wouldn't care any way like 3 of my 6 kids. Very sad and very scary

So, what'd he have to do, give it to himself? :roll:

Real Estate Investor · Mission Viejo, Cape Coral, California

If you remember no press was present when he was sworn in...take two. Transparency at its best.

Real Estate Investor · North Carolina

What Rich says about young adults today is the absolute sad truth.

I've never seen a worse bunch in my rentals. My college students are lazy, spoiled, naive, ignorant, have never really worked and feel entitled. Blame their parents.

My low-income renters are about the same. Blame the government.

Term limits would be a start. But I'm at the point where I believe voting should be an earned privilege and not a right.

I don't think race has anything to do with it nor do I think it has any place here on BP. For only your second post, I think you could have picked a better choice of words. Keep your race to yourself. :cry:

Well said and I agree. While I am part of the younger generation (35), I don't hav the same feelings of entitlement and can't stand the handouts everyone grabs at. Our country is in need of a large change and not the one Obama marketed to get elected.

"Term limits would be a start. But I'm at the point where I believe voting should be an earned privilege and not a right."

And stupid people should not breed. I agree!

The part about "Blame their parents" I have to disagree. Todays grandparents worked till the end, my generation, I am 48, worked hard and looked for a way to retire early. The gen Xers think they, how you stated, "have never really worked and feel entitled" Look at the 20 year old justifying a Lambo on this site. It is not the parents fault. It is the mind set of the youth today. I know, I have a 22 year old.

Real Estate Investor · sioux falls, South Dakota

They should institute an i.q. requirement to be able to vote. Start at 80 and we might get better results than currently.

Real Estate Investor · Vancouver, Washington

Whats the big deal about voting. Once the pres is in we no longer vote on much. They do what they want to do. Not really democracy.

Real Estate Investor · Tampa, Florida

Thank you, again John. I'm a few years younger than you but also have a son in his twenties and I'm extremely disappointed in the values (if you call them that) that he exhibits. I didn't teach him the lack of them and absence of morals that I see.

Rich, I agree the IQ comment.

Nationwidepi, that's a condensed version of what I said.

Terry, that's the other part of what I said. We no longer have a Democracy. We are under the omnipresence of Big Brother but this nation has done it to themselves and like the old saying goes.."a country get the kind of government it deserves."

I'd also like to add this little piece of info that I found. And while I may sound like I'm a fanatic or ranting sometimes on this subject, that's fine. I'll do it to anyone who will listen because this is what I see happening to our country and I'm very afraid for it's future:

As you listen to the political speeches, platforms and promises of the 2008 presidential campaign, ponder the words of Alexander Fraser Tytler, a british lawyer and writer. Tytler believed that governments and democracy go through stages that last 200 years. His thoughts are rather amazing when compared to the current state of democracy in the US. I believe we are in the apathy to dependence stage. Listen to the presidential candidates speak of what you are due from government, what you are entitled to. Is this what you really want, dependence?
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
• From bondage to spiritual faith;
• From spiritual faith to great courage;
• From courage to liberty;
• From liberty to abundance;
• From abundance to complacency;
• From complacency to apathy;
• From apathy to dependence;
• From dependence back into bondage.
