Peebles' Priciples!!!

This is the side of real estate that I am trully in love with. The larger deals that the three Dons (Bren, Peebles and Trump) play with. I don't have to be as large as they are but large commercial is the reason I became interested in REI.

I've been reserching HML for the past 6 months and I have noticed that there are by far more big money comercial lenders (1 mil+) that smaller HML (published firms not your rich uncle charley). Don Peebles first real estate deal was a major commercial development that still brings him $500,000 a year 20+ years later.

Do we have anyone on BP that plays in that arena and if so how did u get started?

So no one's read the book and no one is into commercial real estate and development? That seems pretty odd.

I guess the lack of interest here is indicative of the world of REI and which keeps commercial development wide open.

Hey Rodney,

I have recently read the book. While i enjoyed it I felt that for someone starting out it is missing a lot of information, but it defiantly points you in the right direction.
I think he misleads you into that you can do a big deal right off the bat, but that's my opinion. But the foundation he lays is very vital and a good source of information its up to you to follow through on finding out the things he does not mention and there are quite a few. But its a great start and look into a development.

topic of others: IMO:
My uncle does big deals all the time and the reason those type of people are not on this site that often is because they are doing deals and enjoying life.

Good point Ray and thanks for your reply. My thoughts were that the details left out can only be learned going through the deal. This seems to be my experience talking with real investors and not the "Guru's" that's just filling in the blanks.

But even though he doesn't give all of the information, the fact that his first deal was a big deal proves that it can be done. A $100,000 house is just as risky as a $2,000,000 development if your starting out. The worst thing we can do is fail and if you have GOD then you've already won!!

I think most investors wish to be like "Uncle!" I'll be there soon.

sorry im responding to this post so late but i've read this but and i like it alot ,i also like the fact that he basically came from nothing he first started getting big breaks and connects in the re industry as a page then with marion berry the former washington dc mayor he eventually went to miami and made big deals there as well ,battled it out with nick pritzker i think it sorry if misspelled his name,also battle it out with trammel crow in san francisco ,i've actually been trying to get in contact with him,rodney im just like you as well the big deals enamor me alot but you also have to look at how they got their basically peeble got their by political alliances trump with his dad industry connects,you should also read books by trammel crow,kirk kerkorian but it will be expensive,how to build a real estate empire by marcel arsenault i think it is not sure bout his last name man
