It is really hard to learn everything you need to know from a book. You learn better by doing and putting things together. It is difficult to raise capital until you have a track record so it is a good idea to find a partner with more experience than you have and trade some hustle for it.
Joel Block teaches a bi-annual seminar that coincides with The National Association of Syndicators meeting. You may check that out along with his bi-weekly calls on principles to learn.
Khary Reynolds also has several BP blog posts and now posts for Josh's team. You may check into his stuff along with anything posted by Don Konipol. We also have a BP syndication group if you would like to join that.
I have read many syndication books and none of them come close to teaching me what my mentor taught me in a few months of learning by doing. Each fund is different, but there are a lot of common features and basics to learn. Joining BP's syndication group and participating actively would be a good place to start.
