Hey everyone! I currently have a website through vistaprint. I thought I was happy with, and I was at first. It is nice and basic for my needs right now. I want to switch to Ipower. They have much better products, services and prices. I want to transfer my domain name through them, however, I cannot find an answer to this question. Once I transfer the domain name, can I customize the site using their tools that come with the package I want to purchase? I would love to hear from someone who has done exactly this. or reference, I want to purchase the "pro" plan. I look forward to hearing from aonyone who might have some info for me!

Claude - You'll probably need to talk with the people at IPower to answer that question, since it is going to depend on their individual services. They should have a customer service number that you can call. If they don't respond in a reasonable amount of time, I'd consider looking at a different host.

Thanks for the response Josh. I have talked to them, but they seemed to be giving me very vague answers. I almost felt like they were trying to tip-toe around it, or tell me what they thought I wanted to hear. I will keep trying, and see what happens. By the way, I can't wait for Saturday - rain, sleet or snow!

If they are tiptoeing around giving you a straight answer about their own products/services, it is time to keep looking for another host.

See you tomorrow . . . bring friends!

Funny you mention that, my little brother is visiting from England, and he is going to be with me. He is very excited about everything I have told him about my business, investing, etc. (most of which I learned right here). See you there!

Maybe I am missing something. Once you transfer your domain to them, can you use their tools? Uh, why not? Aren't you essentially paying them for those tools? They're not a domain registrar they're a host, right?

I can't even find their website by googling lpower which is kind of scary. That really says something, that a company offering web services can't even optimize their own site for search engines?

Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do? I can probably tell you whether they are going to do it, if you can describe in better detail what you are trying to do.

I actually started looking at them because someone on this site mentioned them in another topic. They are at www.ipower.com and they claim that they are currently hosting over 700,000 sites. The reason I am not sure if this is a tool I can use is that the only reference they make to customizing and sitebuilding is for an additional, and large fee. Thanks for helping out.

oh man my mistake since you put a capital "i" i thought you said "L power" hahaha.

from looking it over odds are that no, they want to charge you for the customization bc that is where the real money in web hosting is. the monthly hosting fees are nothing. there are a ton of website providers out there that do this.

sorry to disappoint...

ipower is a great host. I had 4 sites hosted through them, before I sold out. This was back in 2004, so they've been around for awhile.

Here's the link to the registration, where you can "use an existing domain".

https://secure.ipower.com/register/registration.bml

Like it says, you will still be billed through your registrar, unless you transfer.

You can use synthasite, with form assembly, and make landing style sites for free. Actually you could build a full site, if you wanted. These are good for craigslist, online advertising.

Here's one I did in like 10 minutes, with synthasite. Nothing fancy, but it shouldnt be. It has a 98% submit rate.

Wow, Corey. Thank you so much for taking so much time to help out! I really appreciate it. As it turns out, I went ahead and purchased the program that I wanted. So far so good. I like everything I am seeing with them so far. Now I have to say that I am not nearly as savvy as you guys are with websites, computers, etc. That is why I am going through a company like this instead of building one myself, so a lot of times when I get advice, it might seem like something I should already know, but I don't. Anyhow, thanks again for your help. You really went above and beyond! When it is up and running, hopefully tonight, I will post on here again so you can check it out, if you would like.

Anthony, thanks a lot for your input as well! I am glad to get some positive feedback on the company (since I already paid for it!)

Claude
