Direct Mail Campaign During Holiday Season

Direct Mail Campaign During Holiday Season

I have a list of Absentee Owners that I want to start targeting through direct mail. However, with the holiday season coming on, I am not sure if I should start now, or wait till after Christmas to start...

Is the holiday season a bad time to START a direct mailing campaign to absentee owners?

    Robert,
In most cases Thanksgiving to January is the slowest time of the year.

But in todays market with the financial mess and the declining markets more and more homeowners would rather pull their capital out of other properties.

I think that you should test your mailing with about 500 mailings before you send out a large quantity. I'm not sure of your list count but I would tell anyone to first test before you send out the entire campaign unless it's a small list.

I see you're in New Jersey. I'll be moving to the East Brunswick area in a few months. I have no clue as to where Bergen County is.

    Hope this helped!

    Thanks for the reply Glen,

East Brunswick is in Middlesex County I believe. I went to school right next door (Rutgers) in New Brunswick.

Bergen County is north right by the GW bridge about 45min or so from Middlesex.

What makes you move from sunny Florida to cold NJ? Well anyway, welcome to NJ and if you have any questions about it let me know!

The problem with mailing now is competition in the mail box. Catalogues, and Christmas cards.

I was the number one direct mail salesman in Orlando before getting into real estate.

I would say start on January 10th when everyone is back in town.

I agree with Glen, start small. But do not expect to get great results unless you have a great letter. If you mail 100 pieces, you might get two calls. (unless you do a yellow letter, then you will get lots of calls but very little motivation)

I would have to agree with what the folks are saying above. I am sending mine as of course GREETING CARDS. I place a longer version of the Yellow Letter Message in that.
