Direct Buy?

Question

Anyone have any experiences with the company Direct Buy, as always, if it seems to be too good to be true it probably is, as they normally advertise 50%+ percent off, but my thinking is even if i was to get 20 or 25% off, with the volume alot of people on this site do in rehabs and such, it would seem like a good deal still. I heard membership is around $7000 for there gold membership. but if you bought several fridges, stoves, A/C's and such a year and saved several hundred on each i could see it being worth it.. eventually.. curious if anyones a member and peoples thoughts on the company!

No personal experience with Direct Buy, but personally, I'd stay far far away from them.

My parents bought a membership and saved a bundle when they were building their house in Georgetown.  I think it is worth it if you buy big items frequently.

You may be able to find another member and piggyback on their membership somehow.

The company is okay if you walk in and buy stuff.  If you try to get anything done via phone they are horrible.  You also run the risk of things being shipped improperly, getting the wrong items, etc.

Besides the high price tag.  I never consider anything when they insist that this is the only chance.  That is one of the surest signs that they don't want you to have time to research them and discover the scam.

They told us that we could get an account if we owned apartments, but we couldn't use them for flipping houses.

Obviously, this would be easy to get around, but I wonder about any company that turns away bulk business

I have also heard some not so savvy things about them. But somebody loves them. They are making a killing.

If you are buying a lot of stuff most big stores will give you that kind of pricing.  Stick with the big box or a supply house with some buying power.

I get calls from them periodically as well.  They also promote a lot on local TV and radio.  Having been to one of their get acquainted meetings,  I had no interest in what they had to offer.

Spending a large amount for a membership that you only getting to glimpse some of the prices and products available doesn't make much sense either.

I get calls from this company all of the time. It got to the point where I have to tell them not to call anymore. I figure, if there prices are that low that would not have to beg me to see there showroom.

I sighned up for Direct Buy for $5000 here in NY. I did so because i was building my home and believed i would save a bundle on the kitchen and baths alone. I must say that the staff had been very helpful but in the end I found better value outside of thier manufacturers. I have since checked prices on furniture but find that they are only competitive on much higher end furniture. not at all competative on electronics and only marginally competitive on tile. I found a great Pool contracter associated with them and to date that is the only purchase I have arranged through Direct buy. Essentially I wasted the 5K so far but i am still a member and as per agreement i can only purchase merchandise for my own use or as a gift etc, not for commercial use etc..
