Pulling title

If I have a deal locked up, contracts signed whats next. I heard I have to pull title but I don't know if that's true. Do I just call a title company to start the process or what? I feel like I'm moving along in the process but now I'm at a crossroad. This is my first deal so any information is gladly appreciated.
