I'm a 40 something, married, IT professional living in Oakland County MI, and ready to get it in the RE game after years of thinking about it and looking at it from the outside. I want to get started on buy and holds, at least to get started. Then down the road I'm open to doing some flipping, or even spec building, but that will be later. My main goal is financial independence, and not being concerned every time the rumor of cut backs blows through the office. I'm a handy guy, and do most of my own repairs if possible. So I'm looking for those "value add" properties. Obviously paint and carpet rehabs would be nice, but I'm not afraid of bigger, more involved rehabs by any means.
