Brad Ter Beek

Hi everyone! I'm Brad ter Beek, from Grand Rapids, MI currently living in Mystic, CT. I've been working in the U.S. Navy for the last 10 years as a submariner and I'm preparing to make the transition back to the "real world" (scary I know). I've been very happily married to Jackie for the last 11 1/2 years and we have 3 children Hayley (11), Nolan (8) and Wyatt (4). When we moved to CT we bought our first home in January 2014. At the time that was our only goal: stop renting every month and start paying ourselves. This past year on deployment I had a lot of time to reflect (turns out, reflection time is abundant in a metal tube cut off from the rest of the world). I wondered how I'd secure a stable and comfortable retirement, pay for the kid's education, etc.. Long story short I decided real estate investing is something I'd look into as soon as I got home. The first book I found on Amazon was Brandon Turner's The Book on Rental Property Investing. I listened to the audiobook while woodworking in my garage and I was immediately blown away. I jumped onto BP and hopefully the rest is history. Right now we're saving as much as possible to facilitate our transition out of the military when we plan on renting out our current house, beginning our real estate journey. I'm looking forward to meeting new people with similar ambitions and interests. Most importantly though, I'm so excited to learn from this community's wealth of knowledge!
