I started in the real estate investing business when my job took me to another city close by our first house. We decided to keep our house because it is a craftsman that is close to 100 years old in a historic district in Santa Maria, plus it could rent for over twice the mortgage cost. We bought a house in Lompoc and lived in it for a couple of years until we outgrew it. The market was lousy when bought a new house so we kept our second house as a rental. Having two rentals was fun and challenging. I learned a lot. Last year we sold our residence and our rental in Lompoc and moved back into our first house. We are now looking to invest the money we made off of both houses we sold and buy multi-family rentals.
