I am an educator. I teach at a prison in California. I have a strong interest in investing. I also invest in the stock market. Experience: I own two houses. One has been turned into a rental and the second is in the process of being turned into a rental. UPDATE: As of September 2014, my 2nd house has become a rental. :-) August 2015: I have had an offer on a house accepted! There is a 2 bed, 1 bath apartment above the detached garage and a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment behind the garage. House-hacking here I come! UPDATE: March 2016 So the house from August 2015 fell through. However, I am closing on a duplex this week. So I'm moving in to one side and renting the other. Going to try to convert a building on the property into a 3rd unit! UPDATE: May 2017 I've lived in the duplex from 2016 for a year now. We just finished a remodel of the unit we are living in. In the meantime, I bought my 4th property, and 2nd duplex, in September of 2016. UPDATE: January 2019 Completed 1st successful flip in 2018. Completed Remodel of 2nd unit of duplex and completed remodel of 4th property. Moved into a house with rental unit in the back and now have both houses and both duplexes rented!!! Looking for the next one! UPDATE: July 2020 Finally found the next one, a house with 2 apartments in the back. Going to have to remodel all 3, but that’s my favorite part. This may turn into a flip and allow me to purchase a separate property. I also completed another flip earlier this year. Real Estate Goals: To acquire enough properties and bring in enough income that would allow me to become my own boss. My immediate goal is to purchase a 4-plex in the coming months. Also would like to do another flip. Currently Seeking: I would like to continue investing in multi-family units such as duplexes and four-plexes.
