Rental Property Investor
My wife and I bought our first rental in 2004, a foreclosure that needed a major cleaning and some light renovation. We have tried to be wise and stay focused as we learned a great deal about real estate investing as we have built our rental portfolio. My wife was able to retire at age 51 to spend more time managing our renovation projects while I focused on acquisitions. This allowed us to accelerate growth to the point I was able to quit my W2 in early 2023 at age 56 with 36 SFH properties. Life is SO much better now! Experience: We are primarily buy-and-hold investors targeting distressed property to renovate and rent, but we have also done a handful of fix and flips. Light renovations are really nice, but we have also done well with complete gut jobs. Real Estate Goals: My wife and I have met our goal of having our real estate investments allow us an early retirement from our W2 jobs. We will now continue to strategically build, manage, and improve our portfolio, and spend a great deal more time enjoying a better life with each other. Currently Seeking: I am currently focusing on SFH rehab opportunities, but open to multi-family deals as well.
