I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and a dad of two great kids. I love to bike, fish, and spend time with my family. Ten years ago I owned a mortgage brokerage, I was a Realtor, and had a small real estate investment company. My whole world was real estate, then the market crashed and lost everything. So, I changed careers, and stayed away from real estate; even gave up all my licenses. Last year we bought a house that we were not ready to buy or conventionally finance, but after talking to the owner, I found out he owned the house free and clear. In all honesty, I was terrified to own real estate again, but I made him an offer with seller financing, and structured a deal which was a win for both. I've been out of the industry for a long time, so I consider myself a newbie, and would love to continue pursuing real estate. In fact, I've already got my real estate license again, and I'm looking to eventually make a transition to real estate on a full time basis. I joined Bigger Pockets to continue learning from others and hopefully use that knowledge one day give back to our community. By the way, did I mention that the house now has over $120K in equity, 18 months later? I'm waiting for the 2 year mark to sell and avoid capital gains. Then, use the proceeds to reinvest.
