I only own primary residence but starting to look at building a real estate portfolio. I've got a few ideas and goals that I'm starting to flesh out but am fumbling around on shaping those goals. I'm not in a big hurry and don't know what I'm doing so I'm not a 'shovel ready' prospect. Lot of exploring right now (setting right expectation for contacts). In general looking at a few general themes: 1) A vacation rental - a place where me and my family can go periodically but that we can have rented out by property manager, etc. Smokies, Kissimmee seem like first moves. Florida, Savannah, Charleston, SC, other generally favorite areas. 2) Central Ohio property that could be rented/leased for deer hunting - I'd love a property for my family to go on the weekends, for me to hunt on, and to lease/rent as much as possible. 3) Single family rental in a very few specific areas. The first 2 themes are where my family and I could take advantage of the property. The 3rd theme would just be to build equity and hopefully cash flow positive.
