Jonathan Shumaker

I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, working as a musician before meeting the girl of my dreams while she was on vacation. After a couple years of active duty in the Marine Corps, she brought me down to Biloxi, Mississippi, where we got married. My wife Kara’s mother owns a brokerage (Elite Coastal Realty LLC), and her step dad owns a general contracting (sort of) company (Concrete Building Concepts LLC) and a manufacturing business (Guardian Walls Inc.) With my interest in real estate investing, working for them both has turned out to be a fantastic opportunity and blessing God put into our lives. Kara currently does the accounting and is an office manager for all three companies as well as a friends’ Property Management company. In August Kara and I will have our licenses to start work as an Agents for Elite Costal Realty at the same time. With this combination (and largely through BiggerPockets! ), I’m working on gaining as many skills and as much useful knowledge as I can while saving up our money.
