I have a M.A. in analytic philosophy, which means I have more training than your average bear in thinking really hard about solutions to really abstract theoretical problems. Real world benefits of such training include being able to read (or listen) between the lines and spot potential problems before they arise, and come up with creative solutions or contingency plans when they do. Avid nature/landscape photographer whenever I get the chance. Jobs for philosophers are hard to come by, and investing is fascinating, and real estate appears more attractive than the volatile stock market (though a decade+ of unsound fiat money may hose us all), so here I am. I live in LA County. I grew up and have family in Arkansas. I'm also familiar with Dallas-Fort Worth, so those are the three areas in which I'm presently most interested in deals....well, maybe not LA. Owning property in California is starting to seem like a high risk proposition, with too many unknowns over the long term.
