Josh Brunner

I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2013 with a BA in History. I worked a number of "college jobs" during my time in Lubbock. I was a paper shredder, a waiter, a delivery driver, a valet, a newspaper "journalist" (I should use that term lightly because I mostly called HS football coaches and wrote game summaries) and a substitute teacher. During the winter and summer breaks, I would go back home to Houston (I was orginally from Austin but my parents moved during my freshman year of college) and help my Dad with side jobs. Kitchen remodeling, converting a garage into a game room, installing an A/C unit, landscape, and concrete removal. My Dad is the best craftsman I've ever met. He can do pretty much anything, at least that's what he says. He began to have health problems so I decided to stay in Houston so I could be close to home. To be honest, the work I've been doing has never captivated me. I've been a Houston Sales Manager for a brewery and an Outside Sales person with a graphic design company, but lately I've felt there was something more I should be doing with my time. I could keep going on, but I'll leave you with one story. I visited Seattle a few years ago because that's where my Dad's side of the family lives. During the course of my visit, I semi-worked for my uncle Dave. He had been buying and flipping property since the early 1990's. I thought it was awesome. I, being the overly-curious sort, wanted to know everything about it. He told me something that lead me to recreating this profile. Here's the quote. "I don't really work. I pudder. I do what I want each day, and I'm excited to wake up in the morning. I've never been good at having a boss, and I love working with my hands. So that's what I do". I've known for a while that I wanted the same. I don't have much (any) money, but I'm willing to be creative, I'm willing to work, and most of all; I'm willing to learn so that one day I can have that same level of financial freedom to pudder on.
