I consider myself a South African, but have duel citizenship (South African & Irish) and to complicate matters further live with my American wife in Portland, Oregon. I work as a Consultant in the Energy & Sustainability sector. My specialty is on the facilities side, working with property portfolio managers to help them improve resource efficiency (think energy & water). The aim is to decrease operational expenses via energy management and clean technology investment. The real magic of this approach is that we decrease carbon emissions, while improving profit margins. I have always been interested in buildings but only recently from the perspective of real estate investing. I am currently learning as much as I can and plan to start investing in 2017.
