For 20 years, I ran an IT consulting company in Germany that I had started right after college. Around 2009 I forced the 'colleague-turned-into-best-friend' to take over the CEO role and travelled around the world for more than a year. After returning home I started buying rental properties in Germany to create a second stream of income. Mostly in old buildings that were about to be renovated and completely modernized, because those come with very high tax credits (25k/apartment/year) and very low interest rates on mortgages (.9%) and almost pay for themself. Two years ago I got married to a beautiful woman from Brooklyn, NY where she has a house and we just bought an amazing mid-century modern in the Hollywood Hills together.
