Army officer and real estate investor living in central Wisconsin. Experience: I learned the power of real estate largely by mistake really after my wife and I bought our first house in the mid 1990's. We closed at the bank and went to the house....and I started demo that night. Massive action - right? We fixed the house up and sold it for a 30% profit in 2 years...all by accident. Fast forward 20 years and I built my house from an 1890's barn and have leveraged it to finance other real estate purchases. Real Estate Goals: I intend to retire from the Army within 10 years. Between now and retirement I want to build a portfolio of property, using property and 1031 exchanges to move into the multi-family space.
