I've lived in the western suburbs of Chicago for over 25 years working as an engineer. I was fortunate to have grown up in Iowa where I learned a little about work ethic and developed my drive to always be learning and improving my situation. I purchased my first two 9-unit buildings (18 units total) with a partner in Spring of 2018, a 4-plex in 2020 and closing on another 4 unit in early 2021. In 3 years I have been able to create a portfolio of 26 units. All of my deals have been off market direct from seller purchases which is my preference. Two of the assets have included owner financing. My buying criteria is work-force C+ to B class multi-family, that provides 20% cash-on-cash return and $250-$300/door/month cash flow or a path to get there quickly. I am always looking to expand my portfolio in multi-family buildings. I am also looking for opportunities to partner/invest with others. My goal is to get to 50 units within the next 5 years and then turn them over to a property manager.
