Kevin McKannan

I've been a resident of the D.C. Metro area since 1995 and a practicing Virginia attorney since 2009. My primary areas of concentration are real estate law, business law, and estate planning. In 2012, I was commissioned as an officer with the Virginia Army National Guard and certified as a Judge Advocate. This experience has helped me research new markets beyond just the D.C. Metro area. I've also served as a City Councilor and member of the Planning Commission, which helped me grow my connections and knowledge base in zoning, land use and development. I've spent too much time on the sidelines, and am now looking to build a team to actively pursue real estate investment opportunities. Experience: Since 2001, I've been actively involved with the real estate industry in one capacity or another. My experience began as a loan officer and settlement/closing agent, and evolved into a role as a mortgage loan officer. Those initial experiences in real estate caused me to become even more interested in real estate and ultimately become an attorney focusing on real estate law. Since then, I have developed considerable experience with landlord/tenant law, and both traditional real estate transactions and short sales, which I've personally negotiated. I'm now looking to take the experience I have and apply it to real estate investing. Regardless of my experience, I find myself constantly reading and learning about real estate investing, since it really seems to be a beast of its own. Real Estate Goals: My initial investment goal is to begin wholesaling properties and rehab and sell properties in order to build up some cash reserves. I then plan to transitioning my focus to investing in small apartments (5+ units) for the purpose of growing cash flow. Long-term, my goal is to have a substantial real estate portfolio to increase my net worth (meaning pay off my law school loans), help others when in need, and assist with retirement. I hope to also pass a legacy down to my kids as well. Currently Seeking: I am looking to network in order to build my team and do deals. I am focusing on investment opportunities in the following areas: DMV area and Richmond, VA. Initially, I am seeking to rehab and sell residential properties, including multi-family units. As I grow, I'll be focusing on investing in small apartments and commercial properties.
