My husband (James Lusk, also on BP) and I currently live just north of Seattle, WA and we have a seven-year old son and five-year old daughter. Coincidentally, we had both purchased homes before we met, so when it came time to move in together, my townhouse became a rental. This is what started us on the path to real estate investing, although that was about 10 years ago. Since then, we have been focusing on turning around mid-size apartment buildings and we’ve had a lot of success in Pierce County. We then purchased a self storage facility in Stillwater, OK and just recently sold that a 1031'ed into a couple of cabins in Blue Ridge, GA, that we are using for STRs. I’m gearing up to really propel our portfolio and can’t wait to keep the machine going. I’m looking for partners that can bring in some capital so that we can expand quickly. The sky, for now, is my only limit. I was in the commercial real estate business professionally, but my focus there was retail. I think it’s a great asset, but I’m not set to be a “coupon clipper” just yet. I have experience in leasing, sales, and development. I was the underwriter for our firm as well. I am also a strong believer in teaching children fiscal and personal responsibility, so having a business that we can involve our children in is something that I am greatly looking forward to.
