I made a profit and did the work while living in it for two years. I also "house hacked" that home with a college buddy. I built my second house with my wife using the funds from my first house as a down payment. I've recently moved into my third house which was an enormous learning curve/process. We bought a house on 2.5 acres (in the city) with the intention of a complete remodel and addition. In the end we ended up tearing down the existing house and building new with a construction to permanent loan. We did a cost plus build so I was very hands on with the build process and approved every sub-contractor and GC invoice. After a two plus year process on the third house I can say I survived. I have experience with real estate agents and FSBO through these transactions and with friends and family. Real Estate Goals: FIRE Currently I own rentals, have flipped a few SFH's and actively market for off-market discount properties.
