My first real estate investment was in 2003, a house hack (I didn't think that was a known thing at the time, but I did it) that turned into a long-term rental. I learned a tremendous amount from holding that investment for about 12 years, including missing an opportunity to sell it for more than twice the initial purchase price. Looking to get started again in a more serious way with a personal home that will eventually become a long-term rental, helping my wife with her rental property, and looking for rentals and BRRRR opportunities in Washington DC. I'm an experienced investor in other areas, and excited to finally have the time and energy to invest into real estate again. My W-2 jobs revolve around flying airplanes and instructing pilots, disaster response, and logistics. I'm an Air Force Reserve officer and very involved in a few non-profit organizations, including the Red Cross, Team Rubicon, Engineers Without Borders, and currently on the board of Leadership Initiatives. I celebrate my success by paying it forward before I pay myself. In my off time, I love hanging out with my wife, reading, and doing just about anything outdoors, like hiking, sailing, biking, SUPing, or swimming.
