Over the years I have been wanting an invigorating career change, thinking about an entrepreneurial business but no real direction on what was meaningful and possible. I took a GRE prep course to enroll in grad school to pursue and MBA, but it didn’t feel right. Then one day my husband egged me on to listen to the BP podcast by Karen Rittenhouse. After listening to her I was hooked on BP and real estate investing. This was the direction that finally made sense! My husband and I had both “house hacked” duplexes long before we were married and we already owned some rental units in Columbus. It was like a smack in the face, DUH! We started a 5 year plan with the goal for me to replace my current income with real estate cash flow. Now we are 3.5 years into the plan and only about 1/3 of the way there owning 26 rental units. We have 2 active kiddos and the time commitments mean that for now we must have property management. This greatly impacts our cash flow opportunities. I am now getting started in the note business, exploring other strategies to have cash flow without the property maintenance expenses. I am still striving for the 5 year plan goal and I need all the help I can get BP community.
