I'm a longtime former journalist based in Orlando who started investing in rental property by necessity after another round of layoffs eliminated my job. Practically out of necessity, we began renting our weekend beach house. We liked the income stream so much, we began buying other cash-flowing rental properties in Central Florida. Now in my 50s, I finally get to make my own decisions while building a nice monthly income stream and padding our retirement portfolio. My only regret is that I waited so long to get started.
