My wife and I have been investing in real estate since 2017. Before meeting her I had just purchased a SFR to be used as a rental. Timing wasn’t the greatest as we slipped into the great recession throughout 2008 & 2009. From that point life happened and I moved, we got married, new job, and had kids. You know the story...12 years on the sidelines. In July 2017 I purchased my second property, a duplex in Muskegon, MI. A month later, in August, I bought a 3-unit property in Muskegon, MI. July 6, 2018, I purchased a vacant 6-unit apartment building that needed rehab. February 22, 2019 I purchased a single family home and have it rented out. August 31, 2020 - purchased a 3/1.5 SFR, December 21, 2020 - purchased a 3-unit, and February 28, 2021 - purchased another duplex. 19 units now, all occupied and stabilized. I’m ready to scale up and am now looking to purchase my first mobile home park. It's been a rewarding 4 years for sure. I have listened to every BP podcast episode (some twice) over the last few years during my drive time. It's definitely given me the confidence and motivation to get back in the game. On December 4, 2020 I was able to quit my W2 job and obtain time and financial freedom as my cashflow had replaced my income. I’m so grateful for real estate and this BP community for allowing me this opportunity. August 2021 update: we are on the general partnership team for a 48-unit apartment deal in Iowa with partners we met through a REI Mastermind I joined this year.
