I was indoctrinated with the idea of a passive income future and lifestyle after my best friend suggested I read Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" while my wife and I were galavanting around the world on our my 3 month honeymoon. Within 3 months of arriving back to reality, we had created a partnership and purchased our first REI property out-of-state. My wife thought I was nuts. From there, we've been expanding our portfolio mostly through acquisition and long-term holding of multi-family properties. Very quickly I subscribed to the idea of rapidly replacing my day job income with passive income to achieve early "retirement". Naturally, larger MF peaked my partner and I's interest given variety of scale and growth opportunities. We dove into acquiring a number of larger apartment communities both in our hometown of San Jose, CA and our out-of-state markets. All of which we found via the connections we made on the BP platform. Thanks BP! Nothing has changed, as a matter of fact the larger MF projects only fortified our desire in the strategy and is pushing us to a "go bigger" model for future investments. We continue to invest in the Kansas City, MO market and Tucson, AZ but are beginning to develop the foundations for a successful syndication business model as our next major milestone in our (hopefully) long investment journey. I moved my family to Denver from California so we had further flexibility to pursue these goals and remove the obstacle(s) of living in the most expensive city in the world (I still love you San Francisco). Looking forward to connecting with local REI's and continuing to learn the subtle and not- so-subtle nuances of new markets.
