Wendy Usrey

I am a licensed real estate broker in Colorado and Missouri with over 20 years of industry experience, including residential real estate sales and valuation, investment property analysis, property management, REO (foreclosed) properties, broker price opinions and insurance loss inspections. I have bachelor of science degrees in both Economics and Marketing Management from Missouri State University, a master of arts degree in Economics from Colorado State University, and a PhD in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. In addition to my experience as a real estate broker, I worked as a faculty member in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at Colorado State University for 8 years, teaching numerous undergraduate and graduate courses across the real estate, finance and financial planning disciplines. I have also taught economics courses and finance courses for two other schools on a part time basis. Additionally, my academic experience includes work as a Real Estate Analyst/Economist for the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University, where I collaborated with industry professionals on a variety of projects and designed statistical models used for a housing price index and residential and commercial real estate market forecasts in Colorado. I am a contributing author for several widely used real estate and real estate finance textbooks for McGraw Hill Education. My academic research focuses primarily on real estate, financial planning, and student loans and has been published in peer-reviewed academic and industry journals and books. Since leaving academia I have used my research background and real estate experience to start a new venture related to investing internationally (specifically in short term rentals) and own several properties in the Riviera Maya. My husband and I plan to grow our portfolio of international real estate over the next few years and are looking forward to our next adventure! As an extension to my work in real estate and short term rental ownership/ management I provide expert witness services for litigation related to real estate and property management, including short term rental cases, and forensic economics.
