Frame vs Block house

Hi all,

I was wondering everyone's thoughts on frame vs block construction. I live in Florida and have only purchased block houses so far and was a little wary about buying frame. Are my fears justified or not?

    Andrea K:
I know an investor in the Boca Raton, Fl., area, that will purchase either, without any fears.
I'm curious about the difference in the cost of Insurance between the Frame or Block built property.

I have read that Frame is a little bit more to insure, because of termite fears. Thanks for your input!

It's not a direct comparison for your question, but I have 2 houses. One (1000sf) is full frame, the other (1500sf) has a little bit of brick veneer on the front. The house with the brick veneer is about $80/yr cheaper to insure. Insurance company said it was because of the brick veneer.

    Thanks for the replies.
Bryan, Do you find that you need to treat for termites more diligently? I guess that's my biggest concern. It may be different from Florida to New Jersey though.
