@Jack Lewis

I suggest you look for self-directed IRA custodian NOT based on the location, but based on their fees and quality of client services. There are other important factors as well, but the location is not one of them. Here is the list for you to get you going:

@Jack Lewis, welcome to BP. IRA custodians do not need to be local. The one I use is in another State from me. There are ~3 dozen or so now. They have different fee structures and you should choose one that has a fee structure that is most beneficial for the type of investing you plan on doing. It should be fairly easy to locate the custodians with a web search.

NuWireInvestor.com complied a list broken down by assets under custody and which firms are custodians vs third party administrators.

Hi Jack,

There is  local Custodian Just like I am local to NC.

The Companies name is American IRA they are based out of Charlotte and Ashville. The Gentleman's name is Jim Hitt google him. Dmitriy is also correct and he can help you as well. The value to Jim is that he is local. I see him at several real estate investing meetings. People cannot give you bad service and still look at you in the face as easily. His company manages over $300,000,000.00 in assets.

Also if you need you help on purchasing wholesale properties or mentorship I can help you with this. I have a meetup group where people can come and get IRA and 401K education monthly. We also meetup with flippers and Buy and Hold Investors weekly to discuss the business and how to run things more efficiently and effectively. The goal here is to put everyone in the same room. This builds reputation, education, and strong business relationships. Check out the meetup.

@Jack Lewis

I can't compare or contrast as I only have 1 but I've been happy with pensco.  I set up an checkbook llc and they were easy to work with.  I also see demitry on the forums giving great information. So you have great options.

Good luck

I would recommend American IRA also, I recently set up my account with them after meeting them at our local REIA event in Charlotte, and getting recommendations from other REIA members.

I have bought, sold, and loaned on multiple properties via SDIRA in Wake county. Here is a low-down on what is going on in Wake county.

PM me for the custodian I used, if you want a name.
