I am thinking of buying a property and renting it out. I basically would like to know:
The operational cost of renting properties
Pro's and con's of renting out property
The substantial amount of funds needed for maintenance and occasional mishaps.
This will help me understand if renting out property is a good idea. All responses are greatly appreciated!

Definitely spend some quality time reading all the posts you can on this site. You will discover many points of view and many truths.
Some of the posters here have some great blogs, especially the active landlords who are 'in the trenches' every day.
Purchase and read all the real estate books you can, but be forewarned that many of them are 'rah rah ain't this easy' crapola.
Join a real estate investment group. Seek out those with actual knowledge and experience and ask their advice and counsel.
Many who jump into this racket fail miserably. Learn from them, too.
